STS Mixing & Application Instructions

Complete instructions for preparing and applying the Force of Nature Genetics STS kit. Follow the pictures below, or print either PDF.

Quick version — if you already mix chemicals

Stock A  0.25 g AgNO3 in 250 mL distilled H2O.
Stock B  2 g Na2S2O3·5H2O in 250 mL distilled H2O.

Concentrate  Equal volumes, in a third clean vessel. Draw B first, rinse the syringe, then add A into B while swirling. Never B into A, never mix in a stock jar. Result must stay clear — grey/black means it is spent, discard and restart.

Working spray  Dilute concentrate 1:9 with distilled water, plus 2–3 drops of mild dish soap as a surfactant.

Application  Start a few days pre-flower. Wet the bud sites, not the leaf surfaces — the effect is strictly local. Repeat every 3–5 days for 2–3 weeks; stop once pollen sacs form.

Storage  Sealed glass, dark, refrigerated. Stocks 5–6 months, diluted spray 1–2 months. Nitrile gloves and eye protection throughout; silver waste does not go down the drain.

Gloves and eye protection, every time. Silver nitrate stains skin and burns eyes. Work in a ventilated room, away from food, kids and pets. Nothing you treat is safe to smoke or eat.

    Lay out the kit

    Three clean glass jars, a syringe, both chemical packets and distilled water. Label the jars A, B and Mix before you open anything — the Mix jar is the third one, and nothing is ever mixed inside A or B.

  2. STEP 02

    Put the gear on

    Nitrile gloves, eye protection, clean glass jars, distilled water. Open a window.

    Jar A — silver nitrate

    Powder into the water, cap it, swirl gently until it all disappears. Label it A and keep it out of the light.

    Same again in the second jar. Swirl until clear, label it B.

    Draw from B first

    Always B before A. Empty it into the Mix jar — clean and dry. Nothing gets mixed inside jar A or jar B.

    Rinse the syringe

    Flush it with distilled water before it touches jar A. A dirty syringe ruins the batch.

    Now draw from A

    Same volume you took from B — no more, no less. Equal parts A and B is what makes the 50/50 concentrate.

Pour silver nitrate into thiosulfate. Never the other way round — swirl gently as it goes in.

Now look at the colour

A good batch stays clear. If it goes black or grey, it is spent — pour it out and start over.

    STEP 08

    Cut it 1 part to 9

    One part concentrate, nine parts distilled water, then two or three drops of mild dish soap so it sticks to the leaf.

    Spray the branch you want reversed

    Start a few days before flowering. Hit the spots where buds would form — keep it off the leaf surfaces. The effect is local: it only works where it lands, so soak those spots properly each time.

  3. STEP 10

    Stop when sacs appear

    Once pollen sacs start forming, the reversal has worked. Put the sprayer away.

    Label it and get it cold

    Sealed glass, out of the light, back of the fridge. Write on every container what is in it.

Leftovers do not go down the drain. Rinse glass and the syringe straight away with plenty of cold water. Seal any unused concentrate in a labelled container and take it to household hazardous waste. Keep treated plants well away from anything meant for consumption.

Safety first

  • Wear nitrile gloves and eye protection and work in a ventilated area.
  • Use distilled water and clean glass equipment.
  • Keep chemicals and mixed solutions away from children, pets, food and natural waterways.
  • Do not consume treated flowers, seeds or plant material.

Materials

  • Three labelled glass mason jars — A, B and Mix
  • One glass spray bottle
  • One 50–100 mL syringe
  • Distilled water
  • 0.25 g silver nitrate
  • 2 g sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate
  • 2–3 drops mild dish soap

Prepare Jar A

  1. Add 250 mL distilled water to Jar A.
  2. Add 0.25 g silver nitrate.
  3. Seal and gently swirl until fully dissolved.
  4. Protect the jar from light.

Prepare Jar B

  1. Add 250 mL distilled water to Jar B.
  2. Add 2 g sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate.
  3. Seal and gently swirl until fully dissolved.

Make the 50/50 concentrate

  1. Draw the required amount from Jar B first.
  2. Transfer the Jar B solution into the clean, dry Mix jar. Nothing is ever mixed inside Jar A or Jar B.
  3. Rinse the syringe thoroughly with distilled water.
  4. Draw an equal amount from Jar A — the same volume you took from B.
  5. Always add Jar A into Jar B while gently swirling.
  6. The finished concentrate should remain clear. If it turns black or grey, discard it and restart.

Dilute for spraying

Mix at a 1:9 ratio: one part 50/50 concentrate to nine parts distilled water. Add 2–3 drops of mild dish soap to the final spray solution.

Application schedule

  1. Select the branch or plant intended for reversal.
  2. Begin spraying a few days before flowering starts.
  3. Spray the same areas where buds would form. Do not spray leaf surfaces.
  4. The effect is local — it only works where the spray lands, so soak the treated areas well each time.
  5. Repeat every 3–5 days for approximately 2–3 weeks.
  6. Stop once pollen sacs begin to form.

Storage

Store Jar A, Jar B and diluted spray in sealed glass containers, protected from light, in the back of the refrigerator. Label every container clearly.

  • Jar A and Jar B concentrates: approximately 5–6 months.
  • Diluted spray solution: approximately 1–2 months.

Cleanup and disposal

Rinse the syringe and reusable glass equipment immediately with plenty of cold water. Do not pour concentrated silver-containing solution onto soil, into drains or into natural waterways. Collect unwanted concentrate or spray in a clearly labelled sealed container and follow local household hazardous-waste requirements.

Keep treated plants or branches clearly identified and separate from material intended for consumption.
